Addelyn Grace

So my baby girl will be 3 months old in a little over a week, and I have yet to blog about her! I'll try to smush the last 12 weeks in this post as best I can while it's all fresh (somewhat) in my mind still!

12 weeks ago today was the day before I was going to be induced. I was already a week late and desperate to meet my baby girl. I was huge and uncomfortable and ready for my pregnancy to be over with, and ready to go through the labor pains (or so I thought) and finally hold sweet Addelyn in my arms.

I didn't sleep really at all that night. I was so nervous and excited, I just couldn't turn my brain off to sleep. I had to call at 6am to make sure there was a bed ready for me (I was going to be upset if there wasn't! My patience was wearing thin) and luckily there was. A little before 7am we checked into Metro Hospital. I could write a book about the whole experience, but I'll try to cut to the chase.

They started pitocin at 8am and I didn't have any progress til they could finally brake my water at 6:30pm. I couldn't eat anything the whole day except popsicles and I was starving! I think I got my epidural at like midnight. It wasn't too bad, felt like a bee sting. I was able to sleep for a bit, but when I woke up I was super numb on my right side and even my right side of my face was droopy and they thought I may have had a stroke, so that was kind of freaking me out! I was at 10cm at that point and just wanted to meet her but they were worried about me. Luckily nothing was wrong, but they've never seen the epidural affect the arm and face before. So they turned the epidural down right before I had to push. The pushing started out fine, I was like 'hey this isn't bad at all I can't feel any pain!' But then it changed, I don't know if it's because they turned the epidural down and I was gaining feeling back, but it was like 3 hours in hell! Once she was born, they had to take her away right away because she had fluid in her lungs, and I didn't get to see her for about an hour and a half, so I was really bummed I couldn't see her right away, but once I had her in my arms I forgot about all the trauma and all that mattered was that she was finally here! She was born on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 6:27am, 9 days late.

Here is my beautiful baby girl Addelyn Grace, 8lbs 3 oz, 19 3/4 inches long:
